’IT HAS BEEN GREAT TO LEARN AN EFFECTIVE TECHNIQUE THAT DOESN’T NEED SPECIALIST MATERIALS.’
‘THE TUITION HAS BEEN REALLY SUPPORTIVE, ENCOURAGING AND ENTHUSIASTIC. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.’
Bring an object with you, a teapot, little suitcase, tin or box and make a small exquisite puppet to inhabit it. You will develop ideas and character and there will be an opportunity to explore some basic puppetry techniques to bring your creation to life.
Drawing inspiration from your chosen object, the course will cover ideas and design through to completion of your puppet. Techniques include: polymer clay modelling, stitching, gluing and painting. Isobel will demonstrate some puppetry techniques and you will have the opportunity to make your puppet come to life and begin to explore it’s character and movement.
Isobel will guide through her tried-and-tested method and is sure you will be thrilled with the results. This process requires no specialist equipment and so is perfect for those requiring a ‘kitchen table’ approach to puppet making.
Please bring an object for your puppet to live in (finished puppet will be approx 20cm long and bendable).
Basic materials will be provided to make, paint, dress and furnish your puppet, please bring any specific fabrics if you prefer. thin slightly stretchy fabric is best, eg. tee-shirt, tights, sock material. Felt is too bulky.
Depending how elaborate – costumes may need finishing at home (full instructions will be given).
