9 Dec 2017 / Saturday / £60 (£54 conc) / MAKING
‘DELIVERED JUST WHAT I NEEDED TO REALISE MY IDEAS.’
‘EVERYTHING’S BEEN USEFUL AND ADAPTS TO A PERSONAL PROJECT I HAVE.’
‘TAILORED, PERSONAL AND SUITED FOR EACH DIFFERENT INDIVIDUAL.’
On this one-day course you will build a nifty but not over-complicated puppet control mechanism that lets you hold the figure’s body and control the head finely with one hand – leaving the other free to do arms, or legs, or some other part! It would make a good basis for a two-person (or, potentially, one-person) tabletop figure.
You will also learn some making techniques using plywood and other materials, and tools including the bandsaw, and some practicalities of puppet mechanisms that are applicable to lots of other making tasks. All materials will be provided.
Please note that although we will discuss what happens next with your mechanisms, the course will not leave you a complete puppet!
The course will be led by award winning puppetry director and performer Darren East.
