’IT HAS BEEN GREAT TO LEARN AN EFFECTIVE TECHNIQUE THAT DOESN’T NEED SPECIALIST MATERIALS.’
‘THE TUITION HAS BEEN REALLY SUPPORTIVE, ENCOURAGING AND ENTHUSIASTIC. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.’
A weekend course to learn how to make mini rod puppets and transform a small suitcase into a puppet theatre and set for them to inhabit. We will explore basic puppetry techniques to bring your creations to life.
The course will cover ideas and design through to completion of your puppets. Techniques include: polymer clay modeling, stitching, glueing, painting and dressing puppets, we will consider creative ways to use your suitcase for maximum theatrical impact. You will need to bring a suitcase for your performance.
Polymer clay (and time!) will be provided to make your first puppet and materials will be available to purchase if you want to make more.
You will leave the course with ideas in puppet form, in a suitcase! And making/manipulating techniques to transfer to your future puppet projects.
Led by acclaimed puppetry artist, coach and RCA Graduate, Isobel Smith
