A traditional Kentish tradition, hoodening entails the use of a wooden hobby horse mounted on a pole and carried by an individual hidden under a sackcloth. The Hooden Horse is a regional variation of a ‘hooded animal’ tradition that appears in various guises throughout the British Isles.
In this workshop you will make a hooden horse puppet complete with snapping jaws and cloth ‘hood’, using paper maché, fabric and paint. You will leave the course with a fully functioning Hooden Horse ready to take to the streets.
A materials list will be provided prior to the course.
