‘LOVELY TO FOCUS ON DISCOVERY AND PLAY ALONGSIDE CLEAR INSTRUCTION AND AIM’
‘A GOOD VARIED MIXTURE OF MY OWN WORK WITH DIFFERENT EXCERCISES TO HELP FREE UP CREATIVITY.’
Got an idea for a puppet show but not sure how to make it happen? This course will explore practically and rigorously the choices you have and the tools you can use.
Some of the questions we’ll discuss include – how are puppets and the world they exist in (the staging of your show, whatever form it takes) created and constructed together? Where are the edges of that world, and how does your audience relate to it? What is the relationship between puppet and puppeteer in your show? What are the skills you need to make your show, and how might your puppets need to work? How can the forms of puppetry be best used to help tell the story you want to tell, or give your audience the experience you want to give them?
This short course should help take your idea from concept to a clear, potentially achievable plan, and give you structured opportunities to explore your ideas in detail and get lots of help and support in taking the next steps.
The course will be led by award winning puppetry director and performer Darren East.
