In our continuing series delving deeper into the 2016/17 programme, this week we’re focusing on the term’s first all-round creating course, which is Writing for Children’s Theatre (6 x Sunday afternoons, October 2nd – November 13th).
Are you interested in creating brilliant new work for children but wondering where to start? This welcoming Sunday afternoon programme will support you to explore the exciting art of crafting beautiful and engaging children’s theatre.
Discover the ways you can imagine, shape and develop stories that will entrance and inspire children with performance and storytelling. Bring a show you’ve been working on / dreaming about, or start something brand new.
The classes will incorporate sharing inspiring shows on page and film alongside investigating core principles of writing for children’s theatre, exploring practical exercises to unlock creativity and sharing and discussing our own work.
The group is carefully facilitated by experienced dramaturg and writer Beccy Smith. Plays she has created for children have toured England and Ireland, opened a number of children’s theatre festivals including Barboro and Belfast, and delighted thousands of young audiences around the UK.
This course will explore puppetry and so much more… and is part of our commitment to explore the ways puppetry works within wider artistic landscapes.
