Spotlight on Solo Puppetry

Thinking about joining us for some of our first term?  We wanted to tell you a little bit more about our thinking.

The centrepiece courses of our first term focus on making puppets and puppetry for the solo performer. Why start here? Well, solo puppetry is a main-stay for artists making new work: it’s portable and economical to tour and a great way to showcase your individual vision. As such, it’s a brilliant way to begin your journey into puppetry as well as being really useful for established artists looking to develop their own work.

But it’s not only for work in the theatre: making puppets that can be easily animated by you on your own is great for work in the classroom and therapeutic contexts as well as in storytelling and children’s workshops.

We think solo puppetry is a fantastic way in to discovering the creative potential and many uses of puppetry, so why not join us on September 26th / 27th to explore ways to make puppets that you can bring to life on your own, or on Tuesday evenings from October 6th for an 8 week course discovering ways to bring your solo creations to life. There’s even a 10% discount if you book both courses together!

And don’t forget our launch part’s on September 13th – please RSVP if you’d like to join us for cakes, makes, a toast and a song (this is just so we can make sure we have enough materials, cake and, of course, champagne!).  It’s also a chance to ask us any questions you may have about this or any other of our courses for this term and next year.
Very best wishes,
